Located by the Instituto Hidrografico da Marinha, whom generously donated the location data to the Council of Lagos, LagosA was identified has a fishing vessel of the late XX century.
The ship is 28m in length and 8m wide, it rests upside down, being visible the ship's propellers. Several candidates exist for its identification, one of them is the Neptunia, one of the last fishing vessels built in Lagos. The wreck is highly prized has a diving spot due to its pristine condition. No artefacts are allowed to be recovered from the site. Penetration into the site is not advised. Most local diving centres have access to the site. Our thanks to Pedro Neves, João Carvalho, Nuno Silve and Ricardo Constantino of the Entrada/Dir Portugal for their volunteering diving for the site's study. |
